17,000 people affected by earthquake in Afghanistan: Dujarric

UN: Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said the earthquake in Herat, Afghanistan, has affected more than 17,000 people and more than 110 villages. Mr Dujarric said international staff were in the affected area to assess Afghanistan's needs. He is trying to assess the damage as soon as possible.

Our humanitarian appeals to Afghanistan – like most places there are underfunded, but we are trying to help those affected as quickly as we can.
