Munich Indian shooters performed brilliantly in the third ISSF World Cup 2025 in Munich, Germany and won a total of four medals including two gold and two bronze. India's 36-member team participated in this tournament. India finished third in the medal tally of the tournament. China finished first and Norway second.
Two-time Olympian Elavenil Valarivan, who trains at the Gun For Glory academy, opened India's medal account with a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle category, scoring 231.2 points. The 25-year-old also set a new national record by registering an extraordinary score of 635.9 during the qualification round of the same event.
Apart from this, rifle shooter Sift Kaur Samra finished third on the podium with a final score of 453.1 in the 50m rifle three position event. Nineteen-year-old Suruchi Singh won her third gold medal in Munich by scoring 241.9 in the women's 10m air pistol event. The formidable pair of Arjun Babuta and Arya Borse won the gold medal for India by registering a brilliant 17-7 win over the Chinese team in the 10m air rifle mixed team event.
Another promising athlete from Gun For Glory, Madenneni Umamahesh, showcased his skills in the tournament and became the only Indian athlete to finish in the top eight in the qualification round of the men's 10m air rifle event with a score of 632.3.
Woman shooter Valarivan said, "We train every day to realise our dream of winning something for our country. I am extremely grateful to the Gun For Glory setup and especially coach Neha Chavan for her constant guidance and help to help me excel in the sport I love so much."
The next ISSF World Cup 2025 for rifle and pistol shooters will be held in Ningbo, China in September.
