New Delhi: Jaya Verma Sinha, the new Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Railway Board, took charge on Friday. Ms. Sinha is the first woman to be appointed to the post of Chairman of the Railway Board. He has succeeded Shri Anil Kumar Lahauti. Presently the tenure of Member (Operations and Business Development) Ms. Sinha will be till 31 August 2024.
Ms. Sinha joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service in 1988 and has served in various administrative positions in South Eastern Railway, Northern Railway and Eastern Railway. She has also been Divisional Railway Manager in Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway and Chief Commercial Manager in South Eastern Railway. An alumnus of Allahabad University and with a keen interest in photography, Ms. Sinha has been the Railway Advisor in the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh and during her tenure the Maitri Express from Kolkata to Dhaka was launched.
