    Raipur     Raipur MP and member of the Estimates Committee of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal on Tuesday participated in several important meetings and field inspections in Mumbai as part of the committee's study tour. During this, committee chairman Sanjay Jaiswal, MP Naveen Jindal and other members, departmental officials were also present.

He held informal discussions with senior officials of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Ministry of Steel and Maharashtra State Government on the topic "Review of the functioning of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and its subsidiary companies". In the discussion, the current functioning, production capacity, economic condition and future plans of public sector steel companies were discussed in detail. During this, Agrawal suggested that for the industrial development of the country, it is necessary to further strengthen the transparency, production efficiency and competitiveness of the steel sector.



Apart from this, in the meeting organized on the topic "Role of banks in the promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Heavy Industry Sector", representatives of State Bank of India, Bank of India, Union Bank of India interacted with officials of Ministry of Finance (Department of Financial Services), Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Government of Maharashtra. Describing the MSME sector as the backbone of the Indian economy, MP Agarwal said that an active and sympathetic role of financial institutions is essential for its development. He asked the banks to simplify the process of lending to MSME units and also provide them technical assistance.


During their visit, Brijmohan Agrawal and other members also visited the refinery of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), where they reviewed the refinery's production process, safety standards and environmental protection measures. They appreciated the latest technological solutions being adopted by BPCL and praised their efforts towards clean energy.


On this occasion, Agarwal said that the objective of the Estimates Committee is not only to review budget expenditures but also to ensure efficient use of resources, transparency and effectiveness of public welfare schemes.
