NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday address the Lok Sabha on the no-confidence motion tabled by the Opposition in the Lower House of the Parliament. The motion was moved by the Opposition in an attempt to corner the Modi government over the Manipur. The motion was accepted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and debated on Tuesday. The ruling NLD is again facing a motion of no confidence, following a similar motion by the Telugu SAM party in 2018, although it would not pose a threat given the support of the majority.
Reinstated Rahul Gandhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke in Parliament on the motion just a day before Modi's speech.
Rahul Gandhi, who spoke first, launched an all-out attack on the BJP-led central government over the violence in Manipur. In a fiery speech in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi claimed that India was murdered in Manipur.
"They are setting the whole country on fire. First Manipur, now Haryana. They want to burn the whole country," Gandhi said in a speech at the no-confidence vote in the Lok Sabha.
Rahul Gandhi has delivered a scathing attack on the BJP government, saying India has been "assassinated" in Manipur. "They killed India in Manipur. Not only Manipur, they killed India. Their politics didn't kill Manipur, but they killed India in Manipur. They have murdered India in Manipur.”
