Four members of a family, including two children, died when their car fell into a canal near Jarera village in the district, a police official said on Friday. According to police, the accident occurred late Thursday night when the car occupants were returning to Jalesar in Etah district after attending a wedding in Aligarh.
Police superintendent Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said the deceased included Bablu (45), his brother's wife Poonam (35), Poonam's daughters Kavya (3) and Bhoomi (1). He said five people were injured and were being treated at the community health centre in Sikandra Rao while the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
