Mexico City      Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she has spoken to US President Donald Trump and proposed a comprehensive agreement between the two countries covering security, immigration and trade. Ms. Sheinbaum said on Wednesday during the daily press conference at the National Palace that the talks between the two leaders took place on Tuesday. Given the number of Mexican residents in the US, Ms. Sheinbaum stressed the need for a formal and comprehensive framework for bilateral cooperation. She said, I proposed a general agreement that includes security, immigration and trade.

I also highlighted the importance of recognizing Mexicans in the US, families who have been living there for years and contribute to the country's economy. She said Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard will visit the US on Friday to address pending trade matters, while security and immigration issues will be dealt with through the US State Department. Describing her talk with Mr Trump as the seventh since the start of his (Mr Trump's) second term and a good one, Ms Sheinbaum said Mr Trump has apologized for cancelling their G7 meeting and invited her to the US for talks, though the visit will take place at a later date.
