New Delhi    It rained in many parts of the country today, including many districts of Delhi, UP and Haryana. Regarding this, the IMD i.e. India Meteorological Department also released a report, in which they gave figures which are shocking. According to the IMD, New Delhi has recorded the highest rainfall in the month of May for the second time after 124 years i.e. after 1901. The highest rainfall was recorded only once in these 124 years in 2021.

IMD said, the second highest rainfall was recorded in 24 hours in May since the year 1901. Till 8:30 am today, Delhi recorded 77 mm of rain. At the same time, this is the second highest rainfall recorded in a day in May since 1901, before this the highest rainfall was recorded on 20 May 2021, which was 119.3 mm recorded in a day.

Why did it rain?

The IMD said that the torrential rains were caused by moisture from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The IMD said that the moisture and wind formed in the area formed by both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal along with persistent favorable synchronized conditions in the lower and middle tropospheric levels promoted heavy rains.

Many deaths occurred in Haryana, UP and Delhi

Let us inform you that this torrential rain in Delhi caused 4 deaths in Najafgarh, along with this there were reports of vehicles getting stuck in traffic and many flights getting delayed. Along with the rain in Delhi, there was also a strong storm, due to which 40 flights got delayed.

Here in UP too, reports of rain and lightning have come from many places. In UP, 5 people have died in the last 24 hours due to lightning. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also announced compensation for the deaths of people. The CM expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the loss of life and the injured in these accidents. Along with this, the District Magistrates have been directed to give immediate compensation.

Heavy rains and thunderstorms were recorded in all the 22 districts of Haryana. During this time, there was damage due to lightning and storm. Two houses in Jind and Hisar lost power, causing extensive damage to the houses. Due to heavy rains, two vehicles collided in Hisar at 5 am and an elderly person died. Cars got submerged due to waterlogging near the underpass in Faridabad.
