Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a rousing welcome in France. French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed him with a hug at the welcome dinner organized before co-chairing the AI Summit in Paris. PM Modi wrote on 'X' on Monday, 'Glad to meet my friend President Macron in Paris.' The Prime Minister also met US Vice President JD Vance at the dinner. Vance is also in France to attend the AI Summit.

In his statement before leaving for France, Modi said, 'I am looking forward to co-chairing the AI Action Summit, a conference of world leaders and global technology CEOs, where we will share ideas on a collaborative approach to AI technology for innovation and wider public welfare in an inclusive, secure and reliable manner.'

Modi and Macron will also hold talks at the delegation level. After this, both will address the India-France CEO Forum. On Wednesday, the two leaders will visit the Mazargues War Memorial to pay tribute to Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World War I. He will inaugurate India's new Consulate General in Marseille. According to officials, this is Modi's sixth visit to France. PM Modi will travel to the US from France in the second leg of his two-nation tour.
